December 3

Seriously can't believe I totally missed the month of November to update our blog.

Jessica now has 11 teeth, although not all of them are fully in yet. She now has a few phrases that she says, although most people likely couldn't understand her.

Joanna is still potty-training; just when I think she really has it down, she has another accident. I'm sure we'll have pull-ups around for a few months yet.

Jeremy got his new glasses yesterday. He does like that things aren't as blurry as before. He didn't even realize how blurry things were.

Also, I usually post pictures on Facebook for anyone that cares to see, about once a month. I'm probably a bit behind there too.

We are starting to think about our upcoming Christmas travel to the St Louis/KC/Garnett areas. Lots of planning for that, with 2 little girls, sleeping arrangements etc.

Guess that's it for now.

Almost late October

My how time flies. Hard to believe it's been a month since I've posted last, since I've been trying to do a better job. UGH.

Jessica cut two teeth in the last two weeks, so I think some of her fussiness is due to that. She does find things funny and will laugh (other than tickles), which is such a neat sound to hear.

Joanna is still potty-training. She is in big-girl panties most days, with a pull-up underneath at naptime and an overnight diaper for bedtime. She still has the occasional accident, but in the last couple of days, she has been going into the bathroom by herself (she can FINALLY reach the light-switch on her very tiptoes) and just needs me to "close up shop" after she is done. I'll spare you details! Hoping she will be fully day-trained by the end of the year, especially since we hope/plan to visit StLouis/KC over the holidays. Sure will help with our budget too! Her newest "push" to stay dry is that she wants to go to "school" (ie preschool but she doesn't know that) and you can't go to school unless you use the toilet all the time. It is almost a mantra with her.

Jeremy is doing well in 5th grade, although he doesn't care for writing assignments much. He will get new impressions for his 2nd round of braces at his next appt in November. He isn't much thrilled with that prospect.

After being on this new med for 4+ weeks now, I do think it is helping the headaches after all. We've doubled the dose (I was on the smallest dose possible before) and see where I am in about 2 months. It'll be nice to not wake up with a headache almost every day. Even now, most days are good. Right now, some days I can walk outside, and some days I'm on the treadmill. It depends on our schedule and the temps. Currently, I am getting groceries on Friday evenings by myself right after dinner. It is a nice break from being with the girls 24/7.

Alex has stuck with his "boot camp" exercise class. He keeps surviving each week, and keeps going back, so he must like it a little. We're trying to walk in the evenings when our schedule permits, and the temps. Trying to get in at least one night per week so he has something besides just his exercise class. We've started back up with small group (now that football is over until next summer) so that adds another commitment 2 times per month. We do enjoy.

Alex and Jeremy are at a missionary day-trip today, helping with general clean-up, light remodeling (paint/wallpaper) at a missionary house in Indianapolis. Jeremy invited a friend that goes with us most Wednesday nights to church - hopefully they are having fun and serving well too.

Also, I usually post pictures on Facebook for anyone that cares to see, about once a month.

Can't think of much more right now.

Almost late September

Jessica is getting more & more vocal. She still screeches a lot (who wouldn't be frustrated at the lack of being able to communicate?), but we're working on "no screaming". She grunts a lot too. She still has a very healthy appetite - eats most anything, and definitely wants a snack if anyone else is eating anything. Me too!

Joanna is still potty-training - I keep thinking if we can go a week with no accidents (nap/bed time don't count for me) then we can try big-girl panties. But we haven't gone a week yet. She is markedly better than 2 months ago, but it can still be a struggle some days to get her to go to the bathroom and at least try.

Jeremy is loving 5th grade AND football (he plays slot). His retainer got lost when he threw up a week ago. *sigh* We have a regular appt next Monday (9/27), so we'll see if they think he is close enough to his next set of braces to warrant not bothering with another retainer now.

Being off all meds didn't really seem to help with my headaches, so after a yearly physical last week, the dr decided to try a med for me. I don't really think it is helping, but will likely call tomorrow to see how long I should give it. I've had 2 different side effects with it, that have come & gone, although a 3rd is hanging on..

Alex has stuck with his "boot camp" exercise class. He keeps surviving each week, and keeps going back, so he must like it a little. He is also walking with me approx 2 miles Tues/Thurs evenings while Jeremy is in football (which ends next week).

All for now!

Late August update

Jessica is now walking more than crawling, and wearing shoes most of the time when we go out. Her bedtime bottle is definitely gone, and so is the bottle itself - she is now sippy cup only. In fact, we got rid of our bottles! She seems to be doing ok with the ear-tubes. We went to the pool twice and have taken a few baths, without troubles. The dr checked her ears at her 1-yr checkup, and the tubes were still there. So far so good!

Joanna is still potty-training - hopefully we can transition to the next step in the next month.

Jeremy is loving 5th grade AND football (he plays slot). He plays with his retainer too much (is that common?) so hopefully it'll still do its job. He had another tooth coming in crooked, so he had another bracket put in the back of his mouth, but didn't affect getting the retainer.

My sinus infection is finally gone after 2 rounds of serious antibiotics, but the bigger news is that I am now no longer allergic to ANYTHING, per the allergist on Tuesday. The question now is whether Flonase was causing headaches. I am off all meds and we'll give it a month or so before I possibly try something else.

Alex started a "boot camp" exercise class last Tuesday - it is BRUTAL. He has gone twice now. He decided TaeKwonDo was just too expensive in this area.

Early August update

Jessica is now walking, although still unsteady, and still crawls more than she walks. She is fully transitioned to whole milk, and is now losing her bedtime bottle (just started yesterday). She did get tubes in her ears last Saturday. Her walking slowed a bit for about 3 days, but is picking up again.

Joanna is still potty-training; overall doing better. I believe she fully understands what to do, just depends on her attitude/mood whether she’ll do it or not. Joanna no longer seems to have IBS, and doesn’t seem to be having allergy problems after all, rather eczema.

Jeremy is dreading the end of summer, but mostly ready to head back, 2 weeks from today. He’ll start weekly practice/games for football that day too. He should get his orthodontic retainer the day before school starts.

I neglected to stop my meds before my allergy visit, so couldn’t have testing done. We did find however, that I had a sinus infection (didn’t have a CLUE), so I’m on an antibiotic for that, and will have a sinus CT a week from today. I’ve had numerous sinus infections over the last 5 years, and have been told my sinus cavities are pretty small, and I might need surgery. I’ll have the scan, then see the allergist again likely for skin testing, and make a decision from there. I had my headaches finally under control in Iowa, but they are back, here in Indiana.

Alex still hopes to start TaeKwonDo again in September.

More probably later this month.

Finally an update

Haven't done this in almost a year.. Yes I am delinquent. I found it too hard to do pictures and have it format very well, so I'll just do text for now. Someday I'll figure it out, when I have more free time.

Jessica climbs everywhere she can, has taken a couple of steps, will be walking before we know it! Joanna is potty-training (HATE this process, but will enjoy the result of course). Jeremy finishes his swim team season on Saturday, then has football camp in 2 weeks, and starts weekly practice/games the first week of school. He still has orthodontia work, and will get glasses/contacts soon. Hoping to wait until Jan 1 for insurance purposes.

Jessica is getting tubes in her ears the last Saturday in July, and Joanna and I will have more allergy work done the last week of July. I wonder if Joanna has IBS but still waiting & watching there.

Alex will plan to start TaeKwonDo again in September.

Right now (until school starts) I swim 3 mornings per week (outside, so weather permitting), plus ride my bike whenever I can (when Alex is home to watch the kids). I'm walking 2 mornings per week at 6am (swimming the other 3 at 6am). When school starts again, I'll be walking again with the girls in the double jogging stroller, probably 8am for 2-3 miles.

Have a blessed day!
